Overview
We believe in transparency and clarity. We understood uncertainty about legal fees can be an added stress. To help you plan your finances and your future, we are pleased to offer many services on a flat fee basis. We do not offer flat fee rates for litigation steps.
Initial Consultation
An initial consultation can be used to obtain general information about the law in order to help you: understand your rights and obligations, plan for a separation, and decide whether to take legal action Some people obtain the information which they need during the initial consultation. There is no commitment to proceed with our services beyond the consultation. If you already know that you will need to hire a lawyer, an initial consultation allows you to weigh and compare different approaches to enable you to find the lawyer and approach that fits you best.
Our lawyers charge a set fee for the initial consultation. When you contact our office to complete the consultation screening, you will be informed of our rates, prior to booking.
Flat fee services - family law, wills, and more
Certainty over legal fees can offer added peace of mind. We offer flat fees for various services in family law, wills, powers of attorney, health care directives and notarizing documents.
Flat rate services are appropriate in family law when you and your spouse have generally agreed on parenting, financial terms and asset division terms. During the initial consultation, we always assess whether your needs would fit a flee fee arrangement.
It is important to us to make sure that any formal agreement is fit to you, and not the other way around. We do not take a one size fits all approach to agreements.
Flat fee arrangements can work well in family law where the general terms have been agreed upon, and there is a commitment to cooperate with fine tuning; and our role is to make sure you understand the consequences of those terms, and to prepare a formal, clear agreement that best protects you now, and in the future. To help us assess whether your family law needs would work with a flat fee arrangement, please bring with you to your consultation meeting detailed information about the terms agreed. Often, the following services can be provided for a flat fee:
- Uncontested Divorce
- Separation Agreement
- Basic Pre Nuptial, Cohabitation or Marital Agreement
- Bundled service of Divorce and Separation Agreement
- Independent Legal Advice for basic Agreements
