By contacting us at 204-942-7381, or through the contact us link, our staff will provide you with information about the consultation process and our lawyers’ rates. If you decide to proceed with a consultation, we will send you a consultation screening form for your completion, which will help us match you with one of our lawyers. We will then contact you to schedule an initial consultation, giving you an opportunity to meet personally, or virtually, with one of our lawyers to discuss your legal questions, and hear our suggested course of action, without any obligation to continue unless you choose. Your information will be kept confidential.
For your convenience, there is a public parking lot adjacent to and immediately to the North of our building on Main Street, and another immediately behind our building with access from Bannatyne, looking onto The Cube at Old Market Square, and beside Amsterdam Tea Room. Other nearby lots dot the neighbourhood. There is also street parking on Bannatyne Avenue and other side streets.
Fees
We do not offer free legal consultation. Consultation fees are based upon the experience of the lawyer with whom you will be meeting. During the consultation meeting, which can be carried out in person, by videoconference or teleconference, we will obtain preliminary information about your legal matter, provide you with legal information, and present you with options and our plan tailored to your needs. We cannot provide you with legal advice without first meeting you through our consultation process. If you are seeking a free legal consultation please contact CLEA for a referral, or, if financially eligible, Legal Aid Manitoba or the Legal Help Centre. For information about eligibility, please visit Legal Aid Manitoba or the Legal Help Centre's websites. We are proud to support the Legal Help Centre, and to volunteer our services.
The Province of Manitoba also provides certain services free of charge, which may include child support recalculation on a prospective basis for eligible families, parent information and mediation.
If you are experiencing domestic or intimate partner violence, and are in need of protection now, contact the police. You may also apply for a protection order, without a lawyer, at one of the Law Courts across Manitoba, including at 408 York Avenue, in Winnipeg.
